Challenge Completed!

readown3I completed my second challenge with my review of The Appeal yesterday!  It was the 50th book that I read this year that was on my shelves before January 1.  This is the first challenge I signed up for this year and one that fills me with satisfaction now I’ve accomplished it.  I had so many books that had languished on my shelves or boxes for years and now I’ve made a dent.

Here’s the  link to the books I’ve read for this challenge.  Here are a few of my favorites-

The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom (powerful memoir of the Holocaust)

The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd (heartwarming coming-of-age story)

Midnight in the Garden of Good & Evil by John Berendt (spend a little time in Savannah)

Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen (love me some Mr. Darcy)

The Time Machine by HG Wells (original time travel classic)

Watchers by Dean Koontz (if you love dogs, you must read this book)

MizB  hosted this challenge and will be doing it again next year.  I plan to commit to another 50!  You should think about joining us 🙂

Congratulations! That’s a fantastic total. I should do this next year but I get terribly distracted by library books. They may never appear on the shelves again, whereas I know my own books aren’t going anywhere.

That’s how my piles got so big!

Good for you Stacy. 50 is a lot of good reading. I wasn’t paying attention to the fact you were in this challenge. I just know I’ve enjoyed some of the “oldies” you have read and reviewed. Many of them are my favorites too and it’s nice to revisit them via your reviews.

I don’t feel the need to only review new books because there are so many good ones out there to read and discuss, so this challenge was perfect for me. That being said, I’m not sure if my goal will be quite as high next year 😉

Great job! I’ve never signed up for a challenge but this sounds like a good one. I have a bookcase, or two, full of older books that I just haven’t had the chance to read yet. It’s great to have them but it’s also frustrating that they are just sitting there. Someday…

I really enjoyed The Secret Life of Bees and Watchers was my first Dean Koontz book – loved it! You can tell how much his dogs mean to him. Congrats on a job well done!
