It was a slow movie month for me! I have not read The Giver and didn’t even know what it was about before we went to see it. I think the book would be better but I’m not sure I want to read it now.
Now it’s your turn. Add your 5 words (or less!) to mine and earn $1 for charity. Once we get to $100 the person with the most reviews will choose the charity. Click here to see the past winners, the charities they chose and the other reviews you can add to. Anyone is welcome to join in at any time.
I hope that you will take a few minutes to participate when you can each month. It’s fun for me and for everyone else who reads it. I’m not looking for a critical review, just a few words about how you felt about the movie. This is ongoing so you can leave your 5 words anytime.
We’re up to $54

Interesting story; execution confused me. (Kathy)
The Giver, 2014 (Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Brenton Thwaites, Alexander Skarsgard, Katie Holmes, Taylor Swift) Grade C
Like the idea and cast.
Great movie. Disturbing future concept. (Michelle)
The only one of those movies I’ve seen is Get On Up: Interesting story; execution confused me.
Totally agree about the execution. The longer that Jason and I talked about the movie and the things they could have done differently (with the same material!) the less we liked it.
Haven’t seen any of these. Amber read The Giver, but didn’t want to see the movie because she was afraid they’d ruin it.
Well, the cast was very good and I really liked the first half, but after that it lost me.
The Giver – Great movie. Disturbing future concept.
I don’t think I watched even one movie in August – we are on a Sopranos marathon – 2 episodes most nights and on season 3 right now. It’s been fun.
We never watched the series, is this your first time or a repeat?
Epic: Not very epic. Expected better.
I read the Giver a few years ago. It was different and interesting. But it sounds like the movie doesn’t quite deliver.
If I’d read it first I bet I’d like the movie a little bit better.
I haven’t seen any of these movies, and I can’t remember what I saw in August. My memory is so bad right now. Argh. I know that I just saw The Guardians of the Galaxy this past Friday and l really liked it. 🙂
We tried the Guardians of the Galaxy at the drive-in with Gage. I thought for sure he’d fall asleep in the back seat. That did not happen so we had to leave halfway through!
I really wanted to see The Giver, it’s just come out at the movies over here but seeing your rating I might wait for DVD lol
Epic – only thing epic was title
