The Crosby quote is a good reminder. The Keillor one quite accurately reflects my attitude… when I’m feeling civil about it! š
The Holmes quote reminds me of how I always cry when I hear the song “I’ll be home for Christmas” when it gets to the part “If only in my dreams.” I think Christmas epitomizes that ideal home setting that can never really be achieved, but only approximated if we’re super lucky, and I think that is why I am such a scrooge, because I feel this melancholy.
I never miss going home for Christmas. It’s non-negotiable for me. There is something about way too many relatives cramming into a way too small house that warms my heart š That being said, Christmas snuck up on me this year and the Christmas spirit came late (like this week!).
