Fave Pic We heard the Easter Bunny was going to be doing a drive by and Gage went out a few minutes before I did.  I went out just in time to get this photo and then stand around the cul-de-sac talking to neighbors.  It was nice to see some familiar faces after so many weeks in the house.

Highlights We’ve had some very nice sunny days and two snowy days, one with a bad storm with hail.  Hopefully, it will decide to be spring soon.

Monday was the start of the online remote learning and was an adjustment, but now that we know what we’re doing we’re both really liking it!  And he was able to see both his reading and his math teacher in a Google chat.  He loves to talk to adults, kids not as much.

I made a trip to his school, the gas station and curbside pickup for dinner one night and otherwise we’ve been here.  We’re fortunate that we have everything we need and we’re with people we love.  I worry about those in difficult situations and need to look for ways I can help.  I know some friends are sewing masks.  Have you found a way to help during this time?  Gage and I have written lots of notes and sent lots of snail mail.

Movies Watched

On the Small Screen We finished up season 3 of Ozark – crazy as ever!  And we’re all caught up on Survivor.  I wasn’t feeling well yesterday and spent most of the day in bed except for an hour to see the Easter Bunny and decorate some nature eggs and I was able to watch the BBC Pride and Prejudice miniseries.  It had been too long.  (I’m feeling fine today but now Jason has a migraine)

Plans for the rest of the day?  Cooking, cleaning, and celebrating Easter with some crafts and church at home.

Fave Pic We went by a friend’s house for his birthday and it was nice to see some fresh faces, even if it was through a glass door.

Highlights I used Instacart AND got a Whole Foods delivery this week.  While I didn’t get everything I wanted for Gage I got enough that I can avoid the grocery stores for another few weeks.

We also went on a bear hunt.  In our community people put teddy bears in their windows for the kids to find when they were walking by.  I saw online that some people had started to put eggs in windows too, so we decided to get in the car and drive around our town.  Gage kept a tally and, while we were out in the quiet streets we saw the Easter Bunny getting into the bed of a pickup truck.  He waved and made our day.

Another morning I was looking out our kitchen window and saw a wild turkey running through our yard.  That was a new one.  While we’re all inside the wildlife is taking over 🙂

Books Read   Oh man, I cried for 15 minutes around the 330 pages mark and I’m still sad about it.  But I loved the book.

Highlights of the Week Gage has finished 8 days of antibiotics for strep throat and a sinus infection.  I kept him home on Monday and on Friday he had a snow day so I got extra fun time with my kid this week and he was feeling better.  I also got a cut and color yesterday for the first time in about 9 months so that was good too.

Highlights of the Week  Last week’s Valentine’s Day plans were canceled, but Jason did make me lobster mac & cheese on Sunday and it was definitely my food highlight of the week!  After not getting to the movie theater since December, I managed two trips this week!

On the Small Screen We’re back into Survivor mode here with a season full of past winners over the last 39 seasons.

Plans This Weekend  Getting the kid healthy is my only goal.  We are lucky to have a good doctor friend who made a house call just before bedtime last night to check on the still sick Gage.  We are seeing a pediatrician this morning and hoping for some help in getting him over this yuckiness.  Please send some good healing vibes.

Fave pic The week started out lovely as we celebrated my parents’ anniversary and my dad’s birthday.

Highlight of the Week  Um. Gage came home yesterday with fever, he’s had a stuffy nose for a few days, and no appetite.  This afternoon he projectile vomited all the way down the stairs that even covered most of the foyer floor space.  It was a sight to behold.  He’s pretty sick.  Motrin took the fever down and he actually ate a small dinner.  There is very little chance that I don’t end up with whatever nastiness he has.  Oh, and Jason came home and is down for the count with some to-be-determined, but different ailment and is laying in a dark room.  Luckily he brought home beautiful flowers and a bottle of champagne yesterday, both of which are making me feel better tonight  🙂 Happy Valentine’s Day to us!

  I took the first picture on Monday when I walked the half a mile to Gage’s bus stop in 50 degree weather. The second I took this morning.  A tale of two Februaries in one week.

Highlights of the Week  Thankfully this has been a much-needed mellow week.  Three mornings at the library sorting books (my happy place),  errands, bills, signing up Gage for summer camp, making appointments, sorting the house because Madame Chic told me too.  I’ll review the book on Monday but it was a perfect read for me this quiet week.

Library Book Sale Finds 

Currently Puzzling  A Christmas gift.

On the Small Screen  I have read all of Harlan Coben’s books and I think this is the third Netflix adaptation and definitely my favorite so far.  Jason and I finished the last episode last night.

Mary Higgins Clark  I loved Mary Higgins Clark books when I was in high school.  I read a few more over the years, but not many.  Since she recently passed and I thought I’d share this post about the time I bought Mary and her daughter a glass of wine 🙂    Do you have any good Mary Higgins Clark stories?

Gage started tae kwon do a few weeks ago but Wednesday was the first time I was able to watch.  He has a friend in the class and it’s a great workout.  He’s the last one on the left.

Highlights of the Week

It was a crazy busy week.  It was Catholic Schools Week so I spent time buying and wrapping teacher gifts, helping out at the school wide sundae bar, buying a book for each grade at the Scholastic Book Fair (so fun!), taking a class photo and framing it for Gage’s teachers, and then on another day filling in for teachers during recess and lunch so they could have a relaxing luncheon just for them.   I was supposed to work the pizza lunch on Friday too, but since Jason had the day off I sent him 🙂  Jason also had Thursday off and we spent the 10am-8pm on a Cleveland date, doing some shopping, eating and trying new things like this fancy float spa I already raved about it on FB, and I can tell you too that it was so much better than I thought it would be.  This was my room and my pod.  You shower first, get in and lay in 10 inch water that has over 1000 pounds of epsom salt in it to make you float.  Oh, and you pull the door shut, turn off the light and lay there for an hour.  I kept the light on and the pod cracked a bit.  I made it 50 minutes before I sat up just meditated.  Have any of you tried it?  I’m looking forward to going back.

Fave Pic

It snowed much of last weekend and it was the big snowflake, movie kind of snow.  Just beautiful.  It’s supposed to be another snowy weekend.

Highlights of the Week  We had dinner out with friends, followed by a 4th grade basketball game and then ice cream.  It was fun being back in a gym watching kids play basketball.  I wasn’t too many years older when I played.    It was Gage’s movie night at school.  I worked the drink table so the kids kept me busy.  The kids are always so excited and it’s fun to see them with siblings and parents.  I also completed my 4 hour manager training for the Ohio primaries at the beginning of March.

This is the only fun picture I took all week.  As Gage and I were walking back home from the bus stop we found the only snow left on a 40 degree day.  A gross mound of snow and who knows what.  But at least the kid is cute!

Highlight of the Week  Well, the highlight was supposed to be seeing author Marie Benedict, but I got the times wrong and we arrived at the library 20 minutes late.  The door to the library was closed so we couldn’t even sneak in 😦  I refuse to choose another highlight because I’m still bitter.  At least I got to eat at The Cheesecake Factory first, I guess.

New Challenges

I don’t remember how I first found the 1000 Hours Outside blog, but when I did at the end of the year I knew this would be the perfect challenge for Gage.  He was excited about it after I printed out the tracker sheets, but wanted me to do it with him (because I’m not challenging myself enough already, sigh).  So we both have our tracker sheets on the refrigerator and he’s currently beating me by a few hours.  I love this challenge and recommend it for anyone with children.

And although I’m late to the game I’m joining Shelleyrae’s2020 Non-Fiction Challenge at Book’d Out.  I’m signing up for the Non-Fiction Nibbler where I’ll be reading 6 non-fiction titles chosen from 12 categories.  Fun!  It’s not too late to join in.

Plans for the Weekend  We were so on the fence about taking a quick trip this weekend, but we decided to stay home and have friends over tonight.  Then we’re taking Gage tobogganing on Monday.  We’ll have to see what Sunday brings 🙂

Highlights of the week 

Our book group met and discussed The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek and there was so much to discuss.

We enjoyed Gage’s last few days of winter break. We took him roller skating for only second time.  And then he and I got to spend Monday just palling around shopping and eating and taking walks and it was really nice.
