This Week – Hoppy Easter

Fave Pic IMG_E3945 We heard the Easter Bunny was going to be doing a drive by and Gage went out a few minutes before I did.  I went out just in time to get this photo and then stand around the cul-de-sac talking to neighbors.  It was nice to see some familiar faces after so many weeks in the house.

Highlights We’ve had some very nice sunny days and two snowy days, one with a bad storm with hail.  Hopefully, it will decide to be spring soon.

Monday was the start of the online remote learning and was an adjustment, but now that we know what we’re doing we’re both really liking it!  And he was able to see both his reading and his math teacher in a Google chat.  He loves to talk to adults, kids not as much.

I made a trip to his school, the gas station and curbside pickup for dinner one night and otherwise we’ve been here.  We’re fortunate that we have everything we need and we’re with people we love.  I worry about those in difficult situations and need to look for ways I can help.  I know some friends are sewing masks.  Have you found a way to help during this time?  Gage and I have written lots of notes and sent lots of snail mail.

Books read  American Dirt Read this for my book group and it was a difficult read for me right now. I liked it, but my mind is craving fluff and fun right now.

Books reading The Art of the Handwritten Note: A Guid…

Movies Watched Hop2011Poster.jpg

On the Small Screen We finished up season 3 of Ozark – crazy as ever!  And we’re all caught up on Survivor.  I wasn’t feeling well yesterday and spent most of the day in bed except for an hour to see the Easter Bunny and decorate some nature eggs and I was able to watch the BBC Pride and Prejudice miniseries.  It had been too long.  (I’m feeling fine today but now Jason has a migraine)

Plans for the rest of the day?  Cooking, cleaning, and celebrating Easter with some crafts and church at home.

What are your Easter plans?

Happy Easter, Stacy. I liked American Dirt. I was disappointed that it created so much negative buzz for the author. But I also know that I’m in no position to judge the criticism.

Yes, I feel the same way about it. I didn’t love it, but liked it and felt that it was a story for the time. Some of the criticism doesn’t make sense to me, but understand it’s coming from a sincere place so I’ve learned a lot just by reading the different points of view.

The Easter bunny was supposed to ride around our neighborhood at 2 today but the weather prevented that.

I’ve only been home and to the store. I generally hate grocery shopping but sure do miss it now. Maybe I’ll appreciate it later.

Happy Easter to you and your family!

I thank you for the notes and snail mail you have sent during this time. I know it makes me very happy to get something in the mail or see a face online. I find I wave at every person I see on our walks, and they wave back just as vigorously.

It’s so hot here today (92 degrees F!) I keep thinking that I hope this virus acts like other viruses and dies in the heat and humidity.

Glad you got to get out and see the Easter Bunny!

One nice 92 degree day would make me happy…as long as it was followed by a month of temps in the 70’s 🙂 It seems this virus is doing it’s best to be the weird one so who knows when it will decide it’s done enough damage 😦 Happy Easter!

What a cute picture of the Easter Bunny drive-by. So many creative things being done these days to celebrate holidays and birthdays and such. I saw our next-door neighbors and their little girl today as I was on a walk and the little girl told me she was going to go home and hunt for eggs. She was very excited. We watched our church’s Easter service this morning and it was lovely. Hope you and your guys have a good week, Stacy. Take care and we’ll check in later in the week.

Grandma came over for a few hours so that was Gage’s big Easter present. I did order a few things to put in a bag, plus a few boxes of his favorite cookies. We decorated nature eggs yesterday (cardboard decorated with whatever you can find in the yard) and that was fun, but I didn’t stress about trying to make it ‘normal’. These aren’t normal times and he gets that, thankfully. I’m very thankful to the church (one that we sometimes attend) for sponsoring the Bunny to cruise the neighborhood. Happy Easter, Kay!

How fun that the bunny drove by! A very strange Easter for us this year. We usually host the family. My siblings, kids and other relatives are having a bunny cake contest. I’m not in charge so I don’t know how it will play out. We all made our cake and sent a pic to one of my sisters who will judge, I guess 😀
    Happy Easter!

I love this! At least now you have a whole cake to yourself 🙂 I’ve spent the last hour making homemade chicken nuggets for the week and a piece of cake sounds yummy. Happy Easter!

Happy Easter …. I could use the easter bunny drive-by here …. seems festive & fun. We went for a nice walk this morning and did a Zoom chat with family … but have no other real Easter plans. I guess maybe listening to Andrea Bocelli’s Easter concert on YouTube might be nice. Enjoy & stay well.

    • stacybuckeye says:

I’ve seen quite a few people sharing the Bocelli concert so I’ll have to give it a listen. The Easter Bunny felt like a treat for the adults on the street too. Happy Easter and stay well 🙂

    Happy Easter Stacy.

I really like American Dirt. The teachers and aides at my granddaughter’s school put together a video for the kiddos; it was so cute. We are waiting and suspect we will soon hear that school will be closed for the remainder of this school year.

Stay safe and cherish family time.

I think if I had read American Dirt 2 months ago I would have liked it even more. I did like it quite a bit – the imagery of that first chapter is still stuck in my mind. Gage’s school is officially only closed through May 4th, but even in the unlikely event that it opens then I won’t be sending him back this year. I am relishing the extra time we have together. This is my favorite age and I love having him home more. Jason too, but I actually think he works more from home than he did downtown, but there’s no commute time! Happy Easter!

  8. Janet says:

It was so good seeing you guys today. I loved hearing Gage play the piano. He did a nice job of reading the Easter story too. The weather was nice enough to be outside for a while and I am very thankful for today. Love you guys.

  9. Literary Feline says:

I heard an Easter Bunny was driving around our community, but I don’t think it came near our street–and even if it would have, I heard about it too late. What a great idea though! I am glad the distance learning is working out well for you and Gage. We had our first day today, and I’m ready to throw in the towel. Haha. It didn’t help that she fought me just about all the way. I would like to think the rest of the week will go easier, but she’ll have less oversight with my husband and I both working. I’m sure it will work out. We just need to find our rhythm.

Take care, Stacy. Have a good week and stay safe and well.

Looks like you are all healthy, overall, and hanging in there! I’m glad Gage was able to see the Easter bunny and online school is getting better!

I can’t sew worth a damn but I’ve been trying to give money to the places that need it. And we’ve been trying to do our part to quarantine, wear masks if we have to go out, and social distance while we’re out. We’ve been reaching out to family friends more often. I’ve been thinking about doing some postcards and snail mail. Very good idea. I’m glad you are all safe and healthy and I hope you have a good week!

    • stacybuckeye says:

We haven’t even really been out. I need to get Gage a mask. We still had 3 of the good ones from our home remediation that Jason and I can use. I need to find a way to give back and should spend some time this week writing donation checks.
