This weeks it’s all about our favorite movie sidekicks. Here are my fave five…
1.
Wilson from Cast Away (2000). Tom Hanks would have gone even more crazy without him. I cried when he lost Wilson to the sea.
2.
Sam from the Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001,2002,2003). I believe that Sam defines loyalty and bravery. Don’t we all want a friend who would follow us even knowing it could lead to death?
3.
Annie from Speed (1994). That bomb would have blown up everyone on that bus if not the for the quick thinking Annie.
4.
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969). So which one was the sidekick? Who cares?
5. Duckie in Pretty in Pink (1986). Duckie had Andie’s back even though he really wanted her heart. In the end he only wanted her to be happy.
So who did everyone else choose? Stop by The Bumbles to find out.

I’m with you on Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid! Whew! Just seeing that picture makes my heart skip a beat!
I felt so bad for poor Duckie…he was loyal to the end. On the special feature section on the movie they interview Molly Ringwald who said the script originally called for her and Duckie to hook up in the end, but she said Jon Cryer was just too “ugly” and demanded the script be rewritten so she could be with Blaine!!! Then I felt bad for Jon Cryer.
Great list! here’s mine: http://gofita.blogspot.com/2010/03/monday-movie-meme-5-word-movie-reviews.html
Everyone would want a friend like Sam from the Lord of the Rings trilogy…Except for this and Speed I have not seen the other movies!
Awwww – Wilson! See – that just proves how important sidekicks are – in order to survive sometimes you just have to create one!
I loved Sam (he’s a very important hobbit) and I remember Annie in SPEED. I admired her to bits. Great selections there, Stacy!
Wilson was a sad sidekick. But I did feel really bad when “he” floated away. LOL!
I like your selection of sidekicks. You made me think of some movies I’d like to rent and watch again. Thanks for that.
I just watched Pretty in Pink on Sunday…love that movie!! Love Duckie too!
