Last week Jason and I were able to sneak away to send the night in Amish country. Holmes County, an hour and a half from here, has the third largest Amish population in America. We stopped at a winery for a tasting
before arriving at our very own treehouse! 
It was very cool. We called to get the lock code and never saw another soul while we were there, even though there were two other treehouses on the property. As I looked at the book that everyone signs when they stay there I found out that there was money hidden in all the nooks and crannies. Some people found over $14, we only found $1.89, lol.
This was a relatively common sight as was lots of bicyclists on the country highway. We also made a 10 minute side trip to see the World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock 
which was sort of a bust since it wasn’t working due to the cold or rain BUT we happened upon this gem, 
a train hotel! I can’t wait to take Gage back to stay 🙂 
We did some furniture shopping and good eatin’ and came home to a sick boy 😦 He’s still battling an ear infection.
I still haven’t gotten the prizes mailed out for he last quiz round but they are sitting here on my desk, waiting for a trip to the post office. I was working on a quiz on the Amish in literature and movies, but think it will work best if we do an open ended quiz for this one.

I have read 3 Amish books from a local author – The Wounded Heart, The Hidden Life, and Herb of Grace. I also saw the movie Witness, with Harrison Ford.

So glad to hear you guys had a nice getaway! The treehouse looks so fun and that train hotel. What a find! I bet Gage will love it. Sorry he’s been sick, but that was always my life in winter when I was a kiddo. Ear infections are still my specialty. Hope he’s feeling better by now.

That’s all I’ve got. There was a movie made based on the Kate Burkholder books that starred Neve Campbell. I like it pretty well. Think it was on Lifetime. She didn’t look like my vision of Kate though.
The Amanda Flowers series is set in Ohio too. I think she’s going to be a speaker at the conference I’m going to on Saturday.

117 points! If he tends to have a lot of ear infections I’d suggest seeing a chiropractor instead of taking antibiotics too often. Email me if you have questions. Only with this last ear infection did I learn how a good chiro may be able to help avoid future, more serious issues.

79 points! When I was into tracing my genealogy I found out that not that many generations ago we were Mennoites from Lancaster County. One day I’d love to visit to do some research. In about 20 years when I’ve got Gage settled into life, lol!
