I like tea. Jason and I both like to drink tea at night (sometimes wine wins out for me, but on a good night it’s tea!). I like the act of brewing it and sipping it in pretty tea cups. I’ve been known to buy the loose leaf tea and try to blend depending on my mood. So, it was a no brainer when this book was offered to me.
This is my first book about tea, but am confident in saying that this is not a definitive one. However, it does have interesting information on 10 big teas-ginger, garlic, green/black, chamomile, cranberry, peppermint, raspberry, goldenseal, echinacea, & lemon. My favorite versatile tea is peppermint; I blend it with lots of other flavors. But I was surprised to know that it affects male fertility. On a related note, Jason’s favorite raspberry, can affect women’s uterine area and should possibly be avoided while pregnant.
The book is very short, but it does include recipes for each tea. I was thinking about giving it away, but think I’ll hang on to it for a bit longer as I try a few of the combinations. I like that the recipes are for tea bags and not loose leaf since that’s how most people drink their tea.
Valerie Lull is currently studying herbalism and I thank her for sending me her book. I hope the tea drinkers out there will take a look. The only reason I didn’t rate this higher is because it was so short. Fine for the what’s in there, but it felt incomplete.
Do you have a favorite tea? My go-to tea the past few years has been Asian Jasmine White Tea.

This sounds interesting. I love tea and have a cup most afternoons. I’ve never tried to blend my own, though. I like that it talks about the effects of herbs. I don’t drink herbal teas because I know they have effects on your body if you overdo it.
Garlic tea?? I like tea, but that doesn’t sound good at all.
I just started drinking tea, and I particularly enjoyed Trader Joe’s Cranberry Green Tea. I also brought home a mango tea from our trip to Barbados that was lovely.
I love Earl Grey and any type of Green Tea. We have a tea room/cafe in town that has delicious teas and I stop in often to try out their blends.
I read about three sentences of this and went and got some Earl Grey with a bit of sugar. There. That’s better. LOL! Ok, so this DOES sound good. I have never heard of garlic tea! I like the idea of using tea in recipes. I am kind of a jasmine tea fanatic, having first had it at a Thai place…
Thanks for telling us about this book 🙂
Earl Grey with a slice of lemon for me
But how does it affect male fertility? More or less fertility?!!! Peppermint used to be my favorite, but Fizzy Jill converted me to Good Earth spicy tea!
We actually went to a lecture a couple of years ago by some tea expert and it was incredibly interesting, much to the surprise of both of us!
Men shouldn’t drink peppermint tea if trying to conceive. I went to a tea luncheon a few years ago and it was fascinating. Makes you think of drink (and food) as medicine. I’m not crazy about the spicy teas, but haven’t tried Good Earth.
I am a purist. Tea, in my humble opinion, must be made from tea leaves. Herbs and such may make a drink, but it is not tea. Now there are flavored teas..but the base is still tea.
Ok, putting soap box away…again…lol
Our farmers market has a tea vendor. Her chocolate creme tea gets me going in the morning.

I love Earl Grey as well because I just love the bergamot fragrance. But I’ve been branching out with mint, vanilla, and chamomile.
I love tea, tea pots, cozies, pretty tea cups, basically all things tea lol. To drink I love black teas like English Breakfast and a new love is Chai. My favourite at the moment is Yorkshire loose leaf which I order from a British shop in our area and Argentine Chai. I’m just starting to get into different blends of home made iced teas. Will definitely keep an eye out for this book. Thanks Stacy
I love trying all sorts of teas too! Right now a cup of tea sounds nice!
