Feature Presentation…MONDAY MOVIE MEME
This week’s movie topic is all about Biopics…
There are lots of movies these days that tell the stories about the lives of real people. We prefer the sweeping tales of a person’s life story as opposed to snapshots of moments in their time. Sometimes the films feature people we’re already familiar with and other times they introduce us to them. Either way, we had a hard time coming up with biopics featuring women – maybe you can rectify that in your post.
Visit the Bumbles for more biopic choices.
Biopics aren’t my favorite type of movie. I think it’s because I’m always wondering what is real and what got added just for the movie. But here are a few that I enjoyed…
1. Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny Cash in Walk the Line (2005)
2. Katherine Hepburn and Peter O’Toole as Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine and King Henry II in The Lion in Winter (1965)
3. James Cagney as George M. Cohan in Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942)
4. Leonardo DiCaprio as Howard Hughes in The Aviator (2004)
5. Mel Gibson as William Wallace in Braveheart (1995) (I know great artistic license was taken with this one, but I loved it)
What about you? Do you have a favorite biopic film?

Oh I wouldn’t argue with Braveheart at all. Great choice.
Since you are the owner of the meme I guess I’m in good shape 😉
Leonardo DiCaprio was fantastic in The Aviator! And of course Braveheart is a great one as well.
The only one I’ve seen is Walk the Line and I totally agree!
I loved Braveheart and really enjoyed Walk the Line. I also thought The Aviator was great…that is until my two sons started to repeat everything like Hughes did at the end!! 😀
I LOVE Walk the Line. I have the special edition DVD & have watched all the special features. Love the movie, love the music, love the actors!
The extra features would be great. The music and performances were really impressive.
All good choices – but The Lion in Winter had fabulous, acerbic dialogue.
I just saw it for the first time a few months ago and need to watch it again for all I missed because there was so much great dialogue.
Cate Blanchet in Elizabeth.
Braveheart is a great one too.
I always lliked the Glenn Miller Story and the one about Benny Goodman too. But that’s probably because of the music. Nah, the stories were good too!
I forgot about Cate! She was great in Elizabeth.
