Share on your blog those films you’d most want to have with you and why if you were ever stranded on a desert island.
Visit the Bumbles to find out what they would take and since Molly and Andy both posted their lists I called Jason to get his list too 🙂
Jason’s List
1. Shawshank Redemption – he could watch it over and over again (and has).
2. Braveheart – same reason
3. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles – one of his favorites comedies ever.
4. The Matrix – same as 1 & 2
5. Castaway – for educational purposes.
My List
1. The Sound of Music – I always find this movie comforting and I can sing along.
2. The Philadelphia Story – love the story and the three leads (Hepburn, Grant, Stewart)
3. There’s Something About Mary – I might have chosen Planes, Trains, & Automobiles, but Jason has it and I’m sure we’ll be stranded together!
4. Lord of the Rings- Fellowship of the Ring – I don’t need to have them all to appreciate the awesomeness. And I need my Strider fix occasionally!
5. Silence of the Lambs – a cautionary tale to be on the lookout for cannibals.

I sure hope you’re stranded together! The only one of those movies I’ve seen is There’s Something About Mary.
You’ve never seen The Sound of Music? You’ll find yourself singing along 🙂
As much as I love my horror movies, I just could not fathom having them with me on my island stranded there in the middle of nowhere – too spooky!
Jason thought I was crazy too!
Braveheart is a great pic! I think I would also include The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Wild Hogs.
I like Braveheart too 🙂
You guys have some good choices. My own would be:
Pulp Fiction
The Matrix
Oceans 11
Rushmore
Harold and Maude
You know, I still haven’t seen Harold & Maude. Adding that to my library list right now.
I am in agreement with you on The Philadelphia Story. I’d also take The Jane Austen Book Club.
I do love The Philadelphia Story 🙂
You both have interesting choices for sure!! If I was stranded I would want:
Pride and Prejudice
Sense and Sensibility
Jane Austen Book Club
LOTR- I’d make sure all of the movies are in one disc (yes I know I’m cheating 😀 )
Gone With the Wind
The P&P BBC miniseries is a good choice!
I thought for sure you would have a Sandra Bullock movie on yours, Staci! Here’s mine:
To Kill a Mockingbird–because I know I could watch it a million times.
While You Were Sleeping–because I love Sandra Bullock and she and Bill Pullman have chemistry.
Hope Floats–see above reason #1 and I could watch her dance with Harry Connic a million times and she cries real good in this one.
French Kiss–because I love Meg Ryan (pre-duck lips era) and Kevin Kline.
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid–it has everything: cowboys, adventure, romance, many memorable lines, and Paul Newman and Robert Redford.
While You Were Sleeping almost made it on the list. It was probably number 6 🙂
Sorry girl, but I’m going to have to go with Jason’s list. Although Castaway is on there for educational purposes, I would prefer something else. Not sure what though, maybe LOTR?
The Lord of the Rings trilogy would definitely be on my list too. I hadn’t thought of The Matrix, but that’s a good choice too.
