But as attractive as it is, I’ve never gotten over the feeling that architecturally it belongs in another city, that it was picked up from someplace like downtown Houston or Phoenix and dropped into the middle of Cleveland. It certainly clashes with the gothic grandeur of the gray arches and heaven-reaching green spire of the Cathedral of St. John a block away on Superior.
Deep Shaker by Les Roberts, Chapter 4
A whole series of mysteries by a guy who loves Cleveland. What are you reading?
EDITED TO ADD–He is talking about the Galleria on 9th and St. Clair, downtown Cleveland.

I so want to know what building he is talking about. At least, I am assuming it is a building. Good teaser!
He’s talking about the Galleria downtown. This book was written in 1991 soon after it was built.
How nice to have a whole novel (or series) set in your hometown. Sounds like fun. Good teaser.
I’ll have to google him, I’m not sure I’ve read that author before, great teaser!
Les. I like that name!
Gotta check him out!
Tuesdays: Teasers/Whereabouts
What is it? Interesting!!!
I like that teaser. Mine is here, http://zetor-mogsblog.blogspot.com/2009/06/teaser-tuesdays_16.html
Is the building the Rock n Roll hall of fame? I grew up near Toledo and had a zillion relatives in the Cleveland area.
I need to edit my post 🙂 No, it’s the Galleria on 9th & St. Clair.
Interesting. Mysteries centered in Cleveland? Well, why not? Good teasers.
I like that teaser, it’s interesting!
Mysteries set in Cleveland – wow! Interesting teaser.
I love this teaser. And it reminds me of comments that have been made about the recent huge renovation and addition made to the lovely old Royal Ontario Museum building. A friend of mine said it looked like it had hit an iceberg.
Meanwhile, my own teaser is at Bookishgal.
OK – I can’t resist – why would anyone want to pick something up and drop it in Cleveland? JUST KIDDING! I lived in Bay Village briefly as a little girl – wasn’t in the area long enough to form an opinion one way or the other about Cleveland.
Interesting teaser, I haven’t read that author before.
Here’s my Teaser
I\’ve never heard of this author before, he does sound interesting though.
Here\’s my Tuesday Teaser,

re: Always Looking Up
The book is not as much of a downer as you might think. MJF is an incredibly positive guy and it comes through in his writing.
That is quite an image! Thanks for the great teaser!
I’ve been to Cleveland and if memory serves there is quite a mix of archetecture downtown.
Good teaser.
