Book problem, year 9

Last week I showed you this year’s Mt. TBR and asked for your book estimate. Amazingly, one of you was only 13 off!!!!  That is impressive.  Drumroll, please…

That means that Hannah was only 13 off with her 840 guess!  It also means that I did a good job of reading my own books (35) and donating to the library book sale (60+)all the while keeping my book intake to a minimum.  I had 49 less books than 2015 🙂

In the few weeks since I painstakingly created this monster for my yearly inventory of unread books, I have read one and gave away 105.  I feel better 🙂  Some of these books have been in Mt. TBR since 2008 and they needed to be re-evaluated.

That first year I didn’t even bother to count the books!  I should compare the two and see how many are still there after 8 years.  Maybe next year.

If any of you would like to share a pic of your unread stacks leave a link to your post or just a picture and I’ll include it here.

  1. I’m so impressed your TBR went down! I recently read a book that I bought in 2009, so you just might get to those old books!

  2. I moved a couple of years ago, and I had to get rid of a bunch. So I kept all of my signed books and stored them. My own TBR pile is 15 strong (weak)!

  4. I actually just took a couple of boxes of books to our church’s rummage sale – and resisted the urge to go buy any of them back.

  5. That is still a load of books! Over the last 3 years I’ve weeded my physical books from over 600 to just 300 but, I have over 1,000 ebooks as well 😬😬

  6. I’m not sure I want to know for sure how many are in my tbr pile and just how many I hope to read again. Some author’s will be with me for a long time as I go back to them again and again but you’re right in that some books need to be re-evaluate!

Sigh, it is actually on my list of things to do but I don’t think it will be this year, dang it

  7. It is amazing how quickly books begin to pile up on the bookshelf; especially the ‘to read’ pile. But i always say, i will start a new one next week – but of course by then a another couple have landed. So my list is actually growing and there is nothing i can do about it – and kinda don’t want to! It is great you are donating the difference to charity sales. I am amougst books all the time with my job and i tell you the discipline required to not pick up another to read is quite difficult.
