As I worked on my political quote quiz I realized that I was just sick of it. Sick of the political vile of this season. Maybe this was because I took too many breaks to visit Facebook. Seriously, people are putting some scary and crazy stuff on there. People I know and love. Sigh.
I am also feeling defeated by the actions of politicians to suppress the vote. It makes me mad and sad and it should be a non-partisan issue. I don’t understand how elected officials can just ignore laws and court orders to try to help their side win. Let every vote count. I wish more voters of every affiliation would get more upset by this. I fear that voter suppression is going to be a major embarrassment here.
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could vote for some of the fictional characters we know and love? Give us Atticus or Strider and I bet we could get out the vote!
What fictional character would have your vote for President?
Go vote (for the real and flawed people) and come back tomorrow for the non-political quiz.

Oh I hear you!! Some of my FB friends have been posting some awful stuff that is making me rethink how I think about them. I’ll be glad the election ends today. I would vote for someone who is smart and has integrity — like Elizabeth Bennett or someone like that. Or Katsa and Po.
Elizabeth is an excellent choice!
FB allows too many people to unleash their inner demon. I’ve had to rethink about several friends too. Sad.
Hm, I’m not sure, maybe Hermoine. I’ve voted already.
Another good choice! She can govern both worlds!
Ooh, Aragorn! No idea, though, really.
I think we could get him on the ticket, of only to work side by side on his campaign with him 🙂
I second Elizabeth Bennett, but most of Congress wouldn’t be able to handle her.
Stacy I totally agree with everything you said and I can’t wait until this day is over.
Instead of just working together to fix things, they want to be “right” or “the best” or whatever. They do more damage than good.
For me it’s not about the party, or the person, but their actions.
Thanks for agreeing with my rant. I think I must have spent too much time on Facebook and it made me scared of the people I know there!
Congress couldn’t handle Mrs. Bennett so I have little belief that they could take Elizabeth~
the disparaging adds have been hard to cope with. I read a good article the other day about civility in the public forum. Here is a link to the audio version if you are interested in it. http://youtu.be/EOgejol2MLk
I am tired of the tearing down of others. Don’t tell me every awful thing you think you know about others, tell me about your character and what you plan to do and how you plan to go about it.
Good luck with that 😉
Oh I so agree!!! I am so sick of it and can’t wait for the election to be over. This nastiness makes me so uncomfortable and doesn’t help a bit. I wish people would agree to disagree and just try to choose leaders who we think and hope will do the best job they can for us, and then make sure they do it. No one is perfect and we won’t agree with everyone but we have so many common goals that we should be able to find ways to make it work. I hate that many of our officials automatically refuse something just because it came from the other side of the aisle! I haven’t been on FB in a long time because I can’t take it. People can turn ugly and selfish so fast. We can accomplish so much when we decide to work together but it makes me sad that it’s not a priority.
I’m going to vote right now and I think I’m choosing Dumbledore! Great topic, Stacy!
Dumbledore is another great choice! I can’t respect a politician who refuses to compromise. I just can’t. It’s a ridiculous position no matter what side your on. As for Facebook I’m hoping the hate will settle down now.
Elizabeth Bennett for President…I gotta love that!
She seems to be a popular choice!
Atticus Finch!
He’d have my vote!
I believe you are right!
Why thank you, Staci. I don’t hear that often enough 🙂
I like Atticus Finch for President!
That’s three of us (although I reserve the right to vote more than once!) 🙂
I’m so glad all the nasty commercials are gone now… although I doubt the annoying facebook political stuff will stop.
There are some hateful grapes on there right now and I am seriously having to take a fresh look at people I’ve known for years. Not good.
