Monday Movie Meme – Favorite

Feature Presentation…MONDAY MOVIE MEME
This week’s movie topic is all about Favorites…
A while ago, Sandy @ You’ve GOTTA Read This suggested we do a post about our favorite movie viewed year-to-date. Share on your blog your favorite YTD movie – not necessarily one released this year, just a new-to-you film viewed this year, and link back here so that others can find you.  The Bumbles
After looking at what I watched this year Bridesmaids (2011) was easily my favorite.
It wasn’t perfect, but it was funny.  I am not a Kristen Wiig fan, on SNL her characters usually annoy me, but she did win me over in this one.  The humor is raunchy and over-the-top, but somehow I really felt for Wiig’s character.
Melissa McCarthy was so great in this film. I’ve loved her since she was Sookie on Gilmore Girls.  For those that have seen the movie, Air Marshal John (Ben Falcone) is Melissa’s real-life husband.
So, what has been the best movie you’ve seen so far this year?

I have to check out Bridesmaids – I like to watch a purely entertaining movie like this one once in a while.
The best movie I have watched this year is Bright Star – it’s not a 2011 release though. A 2011 release that I loved has to be HP 7 part 2.

I looked at what I’ve watched and I think I’d go with The Fighter,Black Swan, or The King’s Speech. They’re such different movies, so I’d be hard pressed to pick one.

I remember watching a commercial promoting Bridesmaids and wondered if it was as funny as it claimed to be but it didn’t move me enough to check it out at the movie theater, nor rent it. Many of those Bride, Wedding, Friend of the Bride, etc. movies seem cheesy but if this is as funny as you say….I’ll give it a try, lol.

Andy’s been pestering me to see this one – I thought it was just going to be an un-funny knock-off of The Hangover. But everyone I know who has seen it said it was terrific. I feel the exact same way you do about Wiig – good to know she shines in this one!

I haven’t seen this one as I usually wait for most movies to come out in DVD!! 😀 But I will be renting it when it does…sounds fun!

I also picked Bridesmaids. Melissa McCarthy was the best, wasn’t she? I didn’t know that the air marshall was her real life husband 🙂
