After 14 years a pregnant pause

Jason and I have been together for over 14 years and we decided that we were finally secure enough in our relationship to move forward.  And the reason why I have been so absent from visiting you all regularly is that this step forward has made me sick for the past month, hence the pause in the title.  Obviously, I’m talking about the little one I’m cooking up right now.  Jason and I are just into our second trimester and couldn’t be happier!  Well, okay, once the morning sickness completely goes away I might be a little happier.  By the time this baby comes I will be 39.  I find that so hard to believe.  Where have the years gone?  We do not plan on finding out if it’s a boy or a girl, but we are always open to name suggestions 🙂

I had a dream about my Google Reader last night, so I will be trying to make some progress on catching up with all of you now that I’m starting to feel better.

Thanks, Heather. I’ll be posting pics of our trip to France next month so I’m sure you’ll see the baby bump then 🙂

I was hoping that was what your news was! I am just thrilled for you! Congratulations to you and Jason! I say hit that mark all as read button on your reader – that’s what it’s for, after all. Oh, and if you have a girl, Kathryn is a great name! LOL

  2. Mary says:

Fantastic, wonderful news, Stacy! Hope you’re feeling great very soon. We never found out if it was a girl or boy until the birth – one of the best surprises out there 😀

PS Any dream I’d have involving Google reader would be a nightmare!!! Click that “all read” button.

PSS My name is Mary Elizabeth (fam calls me Mary Beth). Probably a bit too old fashioned these days. Enjoy selecting the name – so much fun.

  3. Kay says:

Stacy, congratulations!! I’m very, very pleased for you and hope that all goes well. You take really, really good care of yourself, please. 🙂

    Hugs!

CONGRATULATIONS!! That is so exciting! Take care of yourself but enjoy the pregnancy as much as possible. It is truly a wonder, after the morning sickness passes.

WOOHOO!!! That’s awesome!! So sorry you haven’t felt well but I hope you are feeling better now. Most people say the middle months are the best. I didn’t know what we were having any of the 3 times and we were expecting and were surprised every time we heard “It’s a boy!” Whatever names you like, try them out. Say the first and middle name together, first and last name together… we even yelled them out the window to hear how it sounded to call them in from playing!

Have fun, enjoy and pamper yourself as much as possible. It’s the hardest, most wonderful job I’ve ever had and I wouldn’t trade it for the world!! Can’t wait to see that baby bump! 🙂

    • stacybuckeye says:

Hee Hee. I can picture you yelling the names put the window! That’s a good tip 🙂
I haven’t had much of a choice in the pampering department since I have had little energy. I’m hoping this month treats me better. Especially since we’re heading to France in May!

    • stacybuckeye says:

Thanks Susan! You are the third person to recommend their own name 😉 And with good reason, of course. It’s an awesome name 🙂

  6. Mariska says:

    Wow ! Congrats Stacy !
this is a great news. I’m with you with the Morning sickness. Infact, i’m ‘feeling’ it right now 😉

    • stacybuckeye says:

Congratulations to you too! I have no other symptoms but the morning sickness so I shouldn’t really complain, but it is debilitating. Hope we both feel better soon 🙂

  7. The old roomate says:

Outstanding! What fantastic news! Congrats to you both! You guys will make wonderful parents, and your parents must just be tickled to death! Woo hoo!

    • stacybuckeye says:

Thanks, Mark! I’m glad you have so much faith in us. My parents are pretty darn happy. I took my mom to a Tea last week and she got to tell as many of my New Clevelander friends as she wanted. Good time for both of us.
I hope our kid turns out as great as yours have.

  8. Kathy says:

BEST WISHES for a healthy, happy and easy pregnancy!
I’m so happy for you! Just think of all the great children’s book you have an “excuse” to read now :o)

Can’t wait to hear about the names. Although I agree with Kathy (bermudaonion) that Kathryn is a wonderful name, I think Kathleen is a beautiful name, as well <>

    • stacybuckeye says:

Thanks, Kathy! Kathryn and Kathleen are both beautiful names. I’ll have to post our favorites in a few months when we’ve had a chance to narrow them down. Now it’s just too much fun to play with silly names as well as good ones.

  9. Alyce says:

    Congratulations! How exciting!

(Also stopping by to say that I haven’t received an email from you with your shipping address for Blindness by Jose Saramago. Wasn’t sure if either my email or yours got snagged by a junkmail filter.)

  10. Wanda says:

Congratulations! 🙂 News like that and you have a dream about your Google reader … too funny!

How do you feel about combo names? I have friends Danny and Kathy who named their daughter Danika. Something like Jaycee/Jacy for a girl; boy could be Tyson or Caston or Tony. You could try it with your combined middle names, both grandmas, both grandpas etc. They can be fun to play around with.

Middle trimesters are the best, you’ll be feeling much better soon!

    • stacybuckeye says:

Now that is a great suggestion. Thanks so much Wanda! We could have hours of fun with this. I’ll let you know if we find a great one this way.

  11. Bumbles says:

Glad to see the official news in print! That must mean your mind is at ease. I’m very excited for you both. Whatever name your child receives will be meaningful. Just make sure to think of all the potential nicknames they will be saddled with. I love my name as it came from my Grandmother, whose spirit I am very similar too. But I have been called everything from Molly Hatchet, Molly Ringwald, Good Golly Miss Molly to Molly McButter (remember that product?). Bumble isn’t so bad ;0)

    • stacybuckeye says:

I’m a worrier, so my mind is never really at ease, but the initial testing came back okay. I think it’s great that you were named after your Grandmother. We are working on a family name for the middle one. The nickname is a tough one. Any one can have potential bad nicknames. I was Stacky for a few years (because my name doesn’t have an e in it).

  12. jennygirl says:

    OMG! CONGRATULATIONS!
I am very happy for you two. This is great and awesome news. I can’t believe it. I hope you start to feel better soon and take it easy. You know me I’m never offended anyway. Are you still going to Paris?

  13. Bonnie says:

Congratulations Stacy!!! I am so happy for you and Jason! We were married 16 years before our son was born and he’s now 11 so I understand what you’re going through. Hoping that you’re starting to feel better soon. We’ll have to plan another coffee soon!!

    • stacybuckeye says:

Coffee is the one thing I can’t stand the smell of, which is very sad for me because I love coffee. Let’s get together when I get back from France 🙂

  14. Heather says:

Wow! Congratulations!!!! HOw exciting! I wish you and Jason the best in your new life as parents! Thanks for sharing your awesome news with us fellow bloggers. Being preggers wasn’t my favorite but I’m sure glad we have the little guy now. For names I like Stacy Jr!

  15. mari says:

    Congratulations!

I know how you are feeling. I took a month and a half away from the computer while dealing with the all day sickness. It does subside…a bit, thankfully.

My hubby and I waited as well. Dated for two years, married for 9 years. I love that we had a lot of time to enjoy just being together on our own.
