Book Title Help

I’m hoping that one of my book loving blog friends can help Mary figure out what this book is.  She has already won $10 because I don’t know it, but now I want to know!  Does anyone know the title of this book?

I’m trying to remember the name of a book I read over and over again when I was younger. It is about a homeless girl that befriends a wolf and they end up taking a train somewhere. For the life of me I can’t remember any more details although I know I read the thing about 20 times.

Are you a member of Goodreads? They have a group specifically for these types of questions called, appropriately enough, “What’s The Name of That Book?” I could post it there for you if you’d like. But I would need more info. such as when approximately it was published – what genre – young adult or children’s book, etc. Any other details on the story or what the cover looked like, etc. usually help too.

There is a movie called “The Journrey of Natty Gann”. Here’s the info from IMDB…”Natty Gann (played by Meredith Salenger) is a twelve year old Depression era girl whose single-parent father leaves her behind in Chicago while he goes to Washington State to look for work in the timber industry. Natty runs away from the guardian she was left with to follow Dad. She befriends and is befriended by a wolf that has been abused in dog fights, hops a freight train west, and is presumed dead when her wallet is found after the train crashes. Dad gets bitter and endangers himself in his new job. Meanwhile Natty has a series of adventures and mis- adventures in various farmhouses, police stations, hobo camps, reform schools, and boxcars.”
Not sure if it was a book, though.

Ooh! This sounds like a winner 🙂 It is also a book by Ann Matthews. Thank you so much, Kathy!

I have that movie on DVD, I love it. That movie is to blame for my early crush on John Cusack, he was so cute!

I might have to look for this at the library!

My first thought was The Journey of Natty Gann too, I admit. I actually did read the book version–but it was a book based on the movie. Not sure that’s what she was looking for or not.

Oh thank you so much!!! I just ordered it on Amazon. I’m almost positive it is the Journey of Natty Gann. It will be so great to read it again! You have no idea how badly this was driving me crazy! Thank you so much!
