These books about defense attorney Michael Haller set in Los Angeles are part of the bigger Harry Bosch series. I’ve watched the Bosch series on Amazon, but haven’t read the books. I I’ve also watched the Lincoln Lawyer series on Netflix. I’ve loved both of them. There are only 7 books of the Lincoln Lawyer so far and I thought I’d start there. Once I started I couldn’t stop!
This series is addicting if you like courtroom drama. The writing is good and the plotting is stellar. There are twists that you don’t see coming. Mickey Haller flies high in some books and lands low in others, but always manages to land on his feet and right the wrongs that happen in the justice system. I’m cheering him on because he has that bleeding heart, albeit one that needs to pay the bills. I flew through these in a few months time.
That being said, they are part of the larger series, so you aren’t privy to the happenings of those books or the years that went by. In some of the books quite a bit of time had passed and you just had to pick up where it was and know your questions might not be answered.
And the Netflix series, while drawing some storylines from the book, really doesn’t follow it closely. Some of the side characters are considerably different too. I enjoy both print and screen versions so that’s okay.
Considering how much I loved these I probably will start the Bosch series soon and this might get wrapped up in that series. Time will tell.
I think all but the first have been 5 star reads for me.

Glad to hear that you enjoy this series, Stacy. I haven’t read it, but one day. I have read a couple of the Bosch books, but I love the ones that Renee appears in. And I’ve read all of those. We’ve also watched all the Bosch series including the ‘Legacy’ series. At this time, we are watching the Ballard series. I can recommend Renee and her world to you. Harry appears and is part of it and also Maddie and others. Hope you are having a good summer!
We watched Ballard too! She is mentioned by Harry in the last LL book. I love how they all connect. And the books are so hard to put down. I’m getting into fall mode here.
The Lincoln Lawyer series is a lot of fun to read. Each of the books adds to the character of Mickey Haller and his supporting cast.
I really enjoyed the movies on Netflix. The casting is inspired. Even the bad guys are entertaining. I look forward to the new season.
The Netflix series is why I picked up these books in the first place. I LOVE the cast, even though they differ from the books.
I’ve loved every one of the Lincoln Lawyer books, and I really like the series also, though it does veer off from the books, which is okay. I think the series is perfectly cast, and when I am reading a LL book, I picture the actors in the series.
It was fun to see LL actor Manuel Garcia-Rulfo in the latest Jurassic movie 🙂
I haven’t see the latest Jurassic movie, but now I’ll have to! This is one of the only times I can think of that I am not bothered by the changes between the book and the show. They are both so good!
