Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week.Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.
I’m excited by both books that made their way to my doorstep this week.
The Storied Life of A.J. Fikrey by Gabrielle Zevin (from the publisher)
A. J. Fikry’s life is not at all what he expected it to be. His wife has died; his bookstore is experiencing the worst sales in its history; and now his prized possession, a rare collection of Poe poems, has been stolen. Slowly but surely, he is isolating himself from all the people of Alice Island—from Chief Lambiase, the well-intentioned police officer who’s always felt kindly toward him; from Ismay, his sister-in-law, who is hell-bent on saving A.J. from his dreary self; from Amelia, the lovely and idealistic (if eccentric) Knightley Press sales rep who persists in taking the ferry to Alice Island, refusing to be deterred by A.J.’s bad attitude. Even the books in his store have stopped holding pleasure for him. These days, he can only see them as a sign of a world that is changing too rapidly.
The Line by J.D. Horn (from a Goodreads win!)
Move over, Sookie Stackhouse—the witches of Savannah are the new talk of the South. Bold, flirty, and with a touch of darkness, debut author J.D. Horn spins a mesmerizing tale of a family of witches . . . and the problem that can arise from being so powerful. As Charlaine Harris’ series winds down—and as Deborah Harkness’ series heats up—Witching Savannah is new contemporary fantasy that will be sure to enchant new readers.
So did anything fun show up in your mailbox this week?

My sister loved A. J. Fikry – I’ll have her review up soon. I hope you love both books!
Yay!
Both books sound wonderful! Enjoy!
Hi Stacy,
I must get myself a copy of A.J. Fikry and schedule it into my reading. I did have a copy on download from the publisher via NetGalley, however they would not send to Kindle, but only to a special programme, which I realised when it was too late, had a time limit on it, so the book disappeared before I got the chance to read it!
Enjoy both your new additions and have a good week,
Yvonne.
That’s why I deal almost always with real, old-fashioned books 🙂
Fun!
