This week’s movie topic is all about Winter…
This week it’s all about snow, something most people in the country are now very familiar with. Here are the first five that came to mind.
Doctor Zhivago It’s not really a favorite of mine, but I loved the winter fashion.

Alive This has one of my biggest fears on display, a plane crash. Oh, and possibly getting eaten by friends.
A Simple Plan I read the book first and loved it. And the movie with Billy Bob Thronton, Bill Paxton and Bridget Fonda shows that the chilly landscape isn’t as desolate as a heart obsessed with money.
Misery I watched this one for the first time only a few years ago and loved it. Annie was one crazy fan.
Frosty the Snowman A classic. Just watched it again a few months ago. Love me some Frosty.
Stop by The Bumbles and check out other winter movies that are sure to match your white landscape. Is there a favorite of yours that I’m missing? Let me know, maybe it’s one I have to see.

Misery scared me to death. Kathy Bates must be related to the Bates motel guy!
Wouldn’t they make a great couple?
Hey that’s funny – I just helped someone find the name of that movie – A Simple Plan – a few months ago. I’ve never seen it myself but after hearing the plot description and tracking it down I added it to my queue. If I had only known you were familiar with the movie I would have just asked you first and saved myself a lot of search time ;0)
It’s a really good book. It’s been a few yers since I’ve read it or watched the movie and it’s the book that’s stayed with me.
Alive is a movie that was very disturbing but also very good.
A Simple Plan was actually made right in my area! I remember seeing a picture in our local newspaper of Bridget Fonda sitting in one of our local bars with wearing a cheesehead watching the Packer game! lol
Oh Misery scared me too! Never seen Alive, I’m not sure I can handle watching it.
Great choice of Dr. Zhivago – the winter scenes were just gorgeous. I was able to go to Russia in the middle of winter and it really did look just like that sparkly wonderland shown in the movie.
Frosty the Snowman! Such a great story. 🙂 I read Misery a few years ago and then had to re-watch the movie to see how the two compared. You’re right, Annie was sure crazy!
Misery is one movie that lived up to the book!! I’ve never watched Doctor Zhivago but have thought about it a time or two. Probably if I really liked snow and winter I would but I hate being cold!! 😀
I haven’t seen any of these movies, but I really need to watch Doctor Zhivago. I remember when that was in the theaters and my mom went to see it several times.
Oh my gosh…. Misery was a crazy movie right?
Would love to see Doctor Zhivago since I suffered through that darn book. And Alive…oh lets not go there.
One word: Fargo.
I should not admit this but I really didn’t care for that movie. And I saw it twice!
Not particularly a fan either, just, you know, snowy.
I have seen none of these!!
That’s okay. You are missing anything earth shattering.
oh yes, Alive was a good pick. I’d forgotten about that one.
Great selections! I haven’t seen all of these but Alive was shocking to me at the time. I really liked Misery, the book and the movie. I have A Simple Plan but still haven’t read it yet. Big surprise, huh?
Another Stephen King creep fest was The Shining. That was a winter movie (and book) that scared the crap out of me! On the opposite end of the spectrum are two holiday favorites, Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story. Obnoxious yes, but still funny!
I’ve not watched any of these movies. I think I’m terrible with catching up on them. 😦
