  1. Eva says:

I think this is my favourite of your quizzes yet! 🙂 Here are my guesses:

    Row Two: Time Travel!
    Row Three: Talking Animals
    Row Seven: Fairy Tale Retellings
    Row Eight: Serial Killers
    Row Nine: New Orleans/Louisiana

I’m so glad you like it. I am very impressed 🙂

  2. Violet says:

Very interesting. I Love this 🙂

    1) Court room drama’s?
    2) Time Travel? I know The Time Travellor’s wife and The Tiem Machine is.
    3) Children’s books? Or books on Animals.
    5) Pulitzer Prize winners.

    Eva beat you to 2.

  3. candice says:

Is row ten family dramas, and at least one character dies? That doesn’t seem like that could be an actual category now that i type it. Interesting way to group books, i love it!

ANY category is an actual category 🙂 That may be the case with the last row (I’m not sure), but there is something else that links them. And their authors (hint hint).

  4. Bumbles says:

I think #4 should be books that were made into trippy movies.
As for #6, I didn’t read any of those but thought that Cold Mountain took place in NC maybe?
And I am curious about the connection for #10. I saw the movie version of Bright Lights and saw the movie as well as read Fried Green Tomatoes. Is this another movie row? Books that were made into movies?

Trippy movies is not right for #4, but by getting to the movies you’re halfway there. #10 isn’t another movie row, but the focus should be a little more on the authors for this one. All very good guesses 🙂

  5. Heather says:

Not sure on the last row, but just wanted to ask how Cold Mountain is a fairy tale retelling? I read that and I don’t remember it correlating to a fairy tale.

Very interesting quiz! I also have an award for you: http://gofita.blogspot.com/2009/08/humane-award.html

The rows are a little confusing. Row 7 (Wicked is the first one) is the fairy tale retelling row. Cold Mountain is in Row 6 and although there have been a few guesses, none are exactly what I’m looking for. Thanks for asking and thanks for the award.

  6. Bumbles says:

    I know I know I know I know what Row #6 is!!!!!

Books made into movies starring Johnny Depp :0)

Whew – I almost blew that one. And some day, when we meet in person and have a thrilling conversation while I gawk over his gorgeousness I won’t have to apologize for missing your quiz question featuring him.

P.S. – I like that you have featured Scout in your blog photo now – no offense to Max of course.

I gave a little cheer when I saw your comment 🙂 Anytime I can include Johnny Depp in a book quiz I will! I thought that was the hardest one, but I guess I underestimated #10.

ps. Scout thanks you for admiring her. 🙂

  7. candice says:

OH, oh could it possibly be that #10 are all the authors first books?? Oh, I would love to get that right. I totally missed the jonny depp one, duh!

    (Cheers. Clapping) You are correct!!

  8. Staci says:

I truly need to get up earlier so I can have first dibs at these!!

Well, I posted this at 2:30 am EST on Monday morning. The advantage usually goes to night owls (like me) or those in a different time zone!

  9. The old roomate says:

Wait. Last night, row 10 had Fried Green Tomatos as one of the books. Of course, that was not Fannie Flagg’s debut novel.

Today all of a sudden, it’s The Bluest Eye, with no mention of the substitution and why it was made. And *now*, they are all debut novels.

So, much like your Up and Down Game

the “rules” are more of what you might call guidelines.

    I call shenanigans.

If I did not know and love you this grouchy comment would have been deleted! Not that I need to explain anything to such a curmudgeon, but I was trying to work out an explanation when Candice got it right. Did you actually write down the titles last night?! And don’t you worry about the Up & Down game. You’ll not see it here again 😉

By the way, when are you coming to vist?
