OSU vs. Minnesota

OSU 34 Minnesota 21

True freshman Terrelle Pryor started the game.  He is already good and it’s a comfort to fans that he’ll be around awhile.

Beanie Wells was back!  Not up to par, but back for a solid game.

The game served as the kick-off for the 2008-09 Scarlet and Gray games, a program for Ohio State student-athletes to support each other at designated games throughout the year. The members of Ohio State’s varsity teams, comprising more than 850 athletes, were recognized on the field during halftime. Four spring 2008 Buckeye conference championship teams – women’s basketball, men’s lacrosse, men’s tennis and men’s volleyball – were recognized as well.

Pryor finished the game 10-for-16 for 139 yards and four touchdowns. He broke Schlichter’s freshman record of three touchdowns in a single game, set vs. Purdue Oct. 14, 1978.

• A crowd of 102,989 attended Saturday’s game. Crowds of more than 100,000 have seen the last 44 games at Ohio Stadium.

My West Virginia weekend

Last night we arrived home at 10:30pm from a weekend in West Virginia to a dark house.  It seems that while we were enjoying beautiful weather Hurricane Ike moved all the way to Ohio and took out trees and power.  Lucky for us, it is back up.  Eight of us stayed in a cabin and the men went whitewater rafting while us two gals hiked, shopped, and took in the area by foot, car and boat.  It was more beautiful than I expected.

We were having a wonderful Saturday until Ohio State lost (and that’s kind) to USC.  The campground showed the game outside on the big screen and there were many unhappy Buckeye fans that night.

Since there were three guys in the car with me I chose comedy cds for some entertainment.  We listened to the Blue Collar Comedy Tour on the way down and the Blue Comedy Tour Rides Again on the way back home.Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall, and Ron White each took a turn entertaining us.  If you need to pass some time in a car full of guys these cds are a good choice, and I even got them from the library.  The second one was a little more mean spirited at times than the first, but still funny.

Ohio State vs. Ohio football

All I can say about Ohio State’s 26-14 win over Ohio University today is…I’m glad I attended last week instead of this one.  Yikes!  For those who were not watching, OSU was losing until the fourth quarter.  I would like to say ‘Bring on the Trojans’, but I think it may be foolish to taunt them 🙂

Ohio State opening football game

Yesterday, Jason and I watched in dread as Beanie Wells went down in the 3rd quarter of the OSU/Youngstown State football game.  As alumni I get two tickets a year and sometimes we give our tickets away, but this year we went.  It was a beautiful day and I LOVE the first home game of the season because the band alumni come back to make one massive pack of marching music.  And at halftime they did FOUR Script Ohio’s, which is always a highlight.  We were four rows back on the upper deck of the Horseshoe and the sun gave us both a nice pink face (and a red nose for me) and the game was good.  We got to see our new freshman quarterback, who is going to be awesome, and were enjoying some hot dogs and Coke when Beanie went down by the goal line and did not get up…for a long time.  It was pretty tense in the stadium.  He is a Heisman hopeful and we Buckeyes take our football very seriously.  We are traveling to USC in a few weeks and we need Beanie.  We won the game 43-0 and we all hope for Beanie’s speedy recovery.  When I heard the injury was turf toe, I thought, great, he stubbed his toe and he’ll be fine.  Then I was told that it could be serious.  If the injury can be serious they really need to come up with a more scary name.  Any ideas?
